We all love to layer up in something golden, but what exactly is Gold Vermeil? Get the lowdown on exactly what it means, why we use it in our collections – and more importantly how to say it.

Pronounced ‘ver-may’, it’s the design and durability you love without the pure gold price tag. Gold Vermeil pieces start out as a sterling silver base (this is what gives them their weightier feel and high-end finish).

A thick 2.5 microns of real gold is then layered over the top of the base through electrolysis (essentially an electrical current), to give each piece extra durability.

All our Vermeil pieces are stamped with a ‘925’ mark to show that the purity of the sterling silver and quality of the finished piece has been assessed by the Assay Office (the gold standard office of precious metals – pun intended.)
