Sustainability at Missoma
Our goal for 2022 is to ace our base by using 100% recycled brass. This will increase our recycled jewellery output and mean we can create gold plated
pieces that are 100% recycled. We're pushing the industry to certificate brass so we can have full transparency over where its come from.
From using recycled metals to responsible sourcing, here's the lowdown on what goes into making your Missoma pieces.
Since October 2021, 100% of our new silver collections are now made from recycled sterling silver – chain-of-custody certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council.
Our gold plated and gold vermeil jewellery pieces are layered with a plating of liquid recycled solid gold, instead of freshly mined gold.
Pronounced 'ver-may', gold vermeil pieces start out as a sterling silver base (this is what gives them their weightier feel and high-end finish) layered with recycled gold plating. Gold plated pieces couple gold plating with brass – our goal for 2022 is to ace our base by using 100% recycled brass.
Our Missoma Fine collection is crafted with recycled 14ct solid gold, with the refinery chain-of-custody certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council. This means we have assurance and integrity when we use the term ‘recycled gold’.
Something as special as diamonds requires extra attention. We source our diamonds through a supplier that's a member of the RJC. They also adhere to the Kimberley Process and The World Diamond Council System of Warranties which gives us some peace of mind that they are conflict free.
All of our pearls are completely unique, farmed from the most responsible suppliers we can find. Our pearl jewellery is responsibly made at factories certified by the RJC. We are working with our suppliers to make their raw materials more sustainable.
