Who better to take you behind the scenes of our Momposina collection, than our Founder and Creative Director herself. Here, Marisa takes us on a trip to discover why she fell in love with Colombia, and how it inspired the designs - straw hat and shades at the ready please.

“After years of flicking through my coffee table book of pre-Colombian artefacts and jewellery and after several trips to South America, I was determined to meet the goldsmiths and traditional artisans whose work I had always admired.

A few months of extensive planning later, we embarked on our trip - first stop, Bogota. Here we met up with an old friend Kate Horne, an award-winning documentary producer who has dedicated her life to telling stories about Colombia and its people.

Soon joined by another friend Daniela Riascos - a Colombian director and producer - they were pivotal in showing us the country they loved so much. One of my personal highlights was our visit to the Museo de Oro, the gold museum in Bogota. This was our first taste of ancient Colombian craftsmanship up close and we were blown away.

Colombia is calling: Bold fan hoops, statement beaded necklaces, stackable gold rings, and colourful gemstones inspired by Cartagena. A little taste of South America, in your jewellery box.

Next stop was the ancient town of Mompox (pronounced Mompos), that sits on the Magdalena River. Here, we met local artisan Doris Penaloza - skilled in the ancient craft of filigree (delicate pieces made from twisted fine gold, silver or copper.)

She allowed us to collaborate on a unique pineapple design as a limited edition piece in our Momposina Collection, and as a thank you for their support we will be making a donation to the school to support the workshop, its employees and their surrounding community.

Colombian model Maria José Ramirez was the face of our campaign, bringing to life the shots taken whether on a long boat along the Magdelena River or riding in a tuk tuk. A  local production team called Milagrosa also helped us capture our trip in a documentary style video, which you can watch here - bringing our magical trip to an end.

A very special thank you to all the stylists, production team, hotel and entire Momposina crew for their vision in our celebration of Colombian culture. We also couldn’t have done it without continued support from Marca Pais Colombia - the country’s culture and tourism brand that works towards promoting Colombia internationally. Plus, the Colombian Embassy here in London kindly hosted our collection launch event - which was the perfect way to top off a spectacular partnership.”

- Tucked away amid the cobbled streets is Casa San Augustin, a hotel that lies within the walled old town and the perfect spot for some sundowners.

- Allocate a few hours at the Museo de Oro, as there’s so much to see and the detail is astounding.

- You could spot their Filigree technique all round the town: from railings to lampposts.
